The FIND- method: Part 4

The meaning of the last word in the acronym “FIND” ( FOCUS your INTENTION on what you NEED to DO) is the subject of today’s blog.

We can all have the best intentions, but intentions are worth nothing if we do not turn our thoughts into actions. We know that our actions are driven by the emotions we feel. We need to make sure that what we focus our intentions on and think we need to accomplish, is truly what we are destined for. You will know in your gut, your deepest inner being, if what you do is really your destiny.

We already saw that to determine what we need to do, we need to focus on our natural talents and that which we feel passionate about. Our passions will fuel our deeds. That which evokes strong, positive emotions in us, that which makes us exited to get up and work on every day. Even on days that we do not feel totally motivated by what we do, we need to have the underlying feeling that we are on the right track and are fulfilling our unique purposes. We need to feel at peace and in the “flow” of things, not like we are continuously walking through mud and carrying a heavy burden .

To truly be great at what you do, you need to do only what is essential to accomplish your goal and life purpose. Of course there needs to be balance in all your life areas, but it is essential that you focus your work energy on maximum productivity to achieve your aim regarding your life work.

In his book “Essentialism”, Greg Mckeown defines doing only what really matters for our calling as the following: “Essentialism is a disciplined,systematic approach for determining where our highest point of contribution lies, then making execution of those things almost effortless.” (p.7)

This includes simplifying our life, targeting our ideal niche, specializing in a certain area, creating a unique job or field that my not have even existed before- anything that drives you to constantly aim for doing your best. As Robin Sharma says: ” In a world where mediocrity is tolerated so much, aiming for perfection is a good thing.”

Mark Twain said : “make constant improvements everyday.”

Since we are a holistic being, we need to check that how we operate in all our life areas are beneficial and supportive of the legacy we want to leave.

Any limiting beliefs or bad habits that stand in the way or prevent us from accomplishing our personal best, need to go and we need to strip down our lives and streamline them to the nitty gritty, to the basics of what we need to accomplish.

In order to do more of only that that truly matters in our unique lives, we need to literally redesign our lives for optimal performance. We need to create healthy boundaries, live fully in the present moment, and take responsibility of our own lives, otherwise others will take control of it and use our lives to make their dreams come true.

Focus your intentions on what you truly need to do to create true purpose and meaning and contribution by getting rid of toxic things and people and places and redesigning your environment and time around that and those that truly matter and really contribute to your ultimate success in living out your utmost potential to fulfill your life purpose. That which propels you into continual personal greatness.
